Exercise OverviewThe Jackson County Emergency Management Department undertook an effort to develop, facilitate and evaluate a disaster exercise entitled "Hurricane Griffin - An EOC Activation Exercise". This exercise served as an opportunity for the county to assess the capabilities of Emergency Support Function (ESF) Lead and Support Agencies in the aftermath of a hurricane. The Hurricane Griffin Tabletop Exercise was facilitated via an internet based application entitled ON-Line eXercise (ONX) System. Information on the ONX System can be found at ONXSystem.com. Exercise ScenarioIt is late May and local citizens have been following Hurricane Griffin as it crossed the southern peninsula of Florida and moved into the Gulf of Mexico. 24 hours after entering the Gulf of Mexico Hurricane Griffin making landfall along the coastline south of Marianna with strong category one winds and rain. After the storm has moved through Jackson County numerous governmental agencies along with community and faith based organizations are coordinating response and recovery activities as a unified team working out of the county's Emergency Operations Center.
