Health Care Provider COOP Initiative

Project Overview

With the need for hospitals, community and rural health care centers, health departments and others to have the capability to survive the next disaster while meeting the medical needs of individuals and families, the Disaster Resistant Communities Group (DRCG) has undertaken an initiative to assist the health care providers in developing and exercising Continuity of Operations Plans.

As part of this important initiative DRCG:

  • Is providing an on-going offering of an internet based COOP Workshop designed to assist health care providers in developing a Continuity of Operations Plan. There is NO COST to participate in a COOP Workshop.
  • Provides a  secure internet based system entitled the COOP Builder which allows health care providers to develop and maintain a meaningful Continuity of Operations Plan.

  • Conducts an on-going  series of  COOP Tabletop  Exercises  for health care providers utilizing the internet based exercise application known as the ONX System.

COOP Training

Health Care Provider COOP Initiative An on-going offering of an internet based COOP Workshop specifically designed for health care providers is available at NO COST for participants. The curriculum is designed to provide each participant with a thorough understanding of the process of developing and implementing a Continuity of Operations Plan. The training sessions are the  foundation from which health care providers will be able to develop and maintain their COOP.

Health Care Provider COOP Initiative

The COOP Builder is designed as an intuitive internet based system which allows health care providers to document how essential business functions will be handled during any emergency or situation that may disrupt normal operations, leaving office / business facilities damaged or inaccessible for extended periods of time.

Training on how the COOP Builder works is conducted on an on-going basis.

COOP Guidelines
