Exercise OverviewA team of national, regional, state and local agencies and organizations have undertaken an effort to develop, facilitate and evaluate a recurring series of disaster exercises entitled "Formidable Footprint". This series of exercises serves as an opportunity for governmental agencies along with community and faith based organizations to assess their capability to prepare for, respond to and recover from a variety of natural disasters which affect communities and neighborhoods. There is NO CHARGE to participate in one or several of the neighborhood exercises. The series of Formidable Footprint exercises is facilitated via an internet based application entitled ON-Line eXercise (ONX) System. Information on the ONX System can be found at ONXSystem.com. Each scenario has a full exercise devoted to actions that are need to be taken to reduce damage and loss of life and to assist in disaster response and recovery.
Local Television Coverage As members of the City of Dallas Community Emergency Response Team participated in the Formidable Footprint Tornado Exercise Channel 4 News was there to capture their actions as they worked as a team through the various exercise scenarios. Exercise Situational MapsRecognizing that GIS is an important tool for Situational Awareness and a Common Operational Picture, Formidable Footprint exercises incorporate scenario-relevant interactive maps created by Ric Skinner GISP using Depiction mapping simulation and collaboration software. The maps provide participants with visual decision support making the exercise more real and meaningful. Access information on how to utilize exercise maps.Exercise BasicsFor agencies and organizations planning to participate in the Formidable Footprint exercise series it is recommended that a minimum of three individuals participate in the exercise working together as part of a disaster planning / response team. By working together as team you will be able to enhance your disaster knowledge and strengthen your teams overall capabilities.Access and print copies of the Formidable Footprint exercise flyer to be distributed to your fellow team members. To ensure that all participants receive important situational awareness materials prior to the exercise as well as a Certificate of Participation at the conclusion of the exercise everyone participating in an exercise will need to register. If an individual is not registered they will not receive important e-mailed materials designed to ensure their participation in the exercise is successful. Exercise Participation Information

During the webinar valuable information and guidelines regarding exercise participation will be provided.
